Approximately 99% of businesses are Small and Medium – of which nearly 60% have less than 5 employeesThese represent nearly 50% of GDP and employ over 80% of the adult private sector working population.

An individual SMEs can have little impact – large numbers of SMEs working individually, can have a significant impact – SMEs working together (and ultimately with larger companies) can really make change happen.

Many companies do have Sustainability initiatives, but a significant proportion of the effort is directed toward the social / people aspect of business. While this work is good, balance with other business activity is needed.
